With the largest qualified lab network India’s top diagnostics chain SRL Diagnostics, has signed an agreement of understanding with Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU). DSEU is set up by the government of Delhi to train and improve the skills in industry personnel in medical laboratory technology.
SRL along with DSEU will cooperatively create the curriculum and content for undergraduate students who wanted to pursue their careers and train in the industry-relevant program for medical laboratory technology.
SRL laboratories will stay on board with studies to evaluate and update the program regularly to keep it on track with the requirements of the sector. The major areas of the program will include laboratory specialties like hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, histopathology, cytology, serology, molecular diagnosis and, genetics.
In India, density of health personnel is very low, for instance, every 10,000 population distribution of the health workforce across the states of Indian is below 100. In 2012, a Public Health Foundation of India reported a dearth of nearly 3 lakhs trained and skilled laboratory scientists and technicians, besides the number has increased significantly since last decade. Collaboration of such type between industry partners and academic institutes will assist to fill this gap of the expert medical personnel that India needs.
